　迷彩服は目立たないよう風景に溶け込むために作られました。ですが陸上自衛隊は「むしろ目立つ迷彩を着る」という決断をしたことがあります。イラク派遣の時のことです。

　これは自衛隊の果敢な戦略でした。遠目にも「あ、あれは日本の兵隊だな」と区別できる服を着て働くことで、信頼を築き、そもそも撃たれないようにする考えです。そのためにはよく目立ち、しかもアラブ圏で神聖な色とされている緑色*4が最も適切なものでした。
